EUROPE : BULGARIA : MATCHSTICK RILA MONASTERY - 16 YEARS TO BUILD


PLAMEN IGNATOV, a Bulgarian artist, worked for 16 years on a matchstick monastery. It is a replica of the Rila Monastery in Bulgaria. This is an Eastern Orthodox Monastery. The monastery was founded in the 10th century by the hermit Ivan of Rila. The matchstick version is showcased in the Museum of Archaeological in Sofia. Bulgaria.
